Itinerary
Day 1: Addis Ababa City and Food Tour
Begin your private Addis Ababa highlights tour at approximately 9:30 AM.
The tour normally includes Mount Entoto, the National Museum, Holy Trinity Cathedral and Shola Market. Your guide will introduce you to Ethiopia’s history, culture and everyday life while sharing practical travel advice, restaurant recommendations and a few useful Amharic words.
The city tour includes private transportation, entrance fees, an English-speaking guide, Ethiopian lunch and coffee.
In the afternoon, join an Addis Ababa food tour and visit local restaurants to taste a selection of Ethiopian dishes.
Because this is a private experience, the schedule can be adjusted depending on your arrival time, jet lag and how you are feeling at altitude.
Overnight: Addis Ababa
Day 2: Fly to Arba Minch, Lake Chamo and Dorze Village
Take a morning flight from Addis Ababa to Arba Minch.
After arriving and checking into your hotel, travel to Lake Chamo for a boat trip. The lake is known for its hippos, birdlife and large Nile crocodiles.
After lunch, drive into the highlands to visit one of the Dorze villages. The Dorze are known for their distinctive elephant-shaped houses, constructed using local organic materials, as well as their weaving traditions and cultivation of enset, often called false banana.
Return to Arba Minch after the visit.
Overnight: Arba Minch
Day 3: Arba Minch to Turmi via Konso
Depart Arba Minch after breakfast and travel south toward the Omo Valley.
Stop along the way for photographs and refreshments before visiting a traditional Konso village.
Konso settlements are traditionally built on hilltops selected for their strategic and defensive advantages. The villages are protected by circles of stone walls, some reaching several metres in height and thickness.
Continue toward Hamer country and arrive in the Turmi area in the afternoon.

Day 4: Dassanech and Hamer Communities
After breakfast, drive toward Omorate and cross the Omo River by local boat to visit a Dassanech community.
The Dassanech are among the southernmost communities of the Omo Valley. Many families traditionally cultivate sorghum using water from the Omo River. Cattle also play an important role in social status, marriage traditions, food and livelihoods.
Return toward Turmi in the afternoon and visit a Hamer community.
The Hamer are known for their distinctive hairstyles, body decoration, cattle culture and ceremonies, including the bull-jumping initiation ceremony and the evangadi night dance.
Depending on the local schedule, it may be possible to witness a ceremony or community gathering. Ceremonies cannot be guaranteed because they take place according to local traditions rather than fixed tourism schedules.
Overnight: Turmi
Day 5: Karo Village and Local Market
Travel to the Karo village of Kolcho, located above the Omo River.
The Karo are known for elaborate face and body painting, hairstyles and decorative traditions. Many families live along the Omo River and traditionally keep livestock while growing crops such as sorghum, maize and beans.
Kolcho also offers one of the finest views over the Omo River basin.
When the itinerary coincides with a major market day, visit a local market such as Dimeka. Markets provide an opportunity to see different communities gathering to trade goods, purchase supplies and exchange news.
Continue according to the final route toward Jinka.
Overnight: Jinka or Turmi, depending on the final program
Day 6: Mursi Community
Following breakfast, travel toward Mago National Park to visit a Mursi community.
The Mursi are one of the best-known communities of the Omo Valley. They are known internationally for the clay lip plates traditionally worn by some women and for donga ceremonial stick fighting practised by men.
The Mursi homeland lies between the Omo River and its tributaries in a remote area surrounded by mountains. Traditionally, communities move seasonally to find grazing areas for cattle and suitable land for cultivation.
Return after the visit.
Overnight: Jinka
Day 7: Depart to Addis Ababa
Transfer to the airport for your departure flight according to the final confirmed schedule.
The exact arrangements for Day 7 should be updated once the domestic flight time and onward travel plans are confirmed.
